HISTORY

JRV is the oldest company on the North Shore of Quebec. We were founded in 1946 and started off in retail sales as a hardware store. We took on an industrial dimension in the 1950’s with the arrival of mining companies on the North Shore. Since then, we have expanded our operations in Quebec and Labrador in order to serve industrial and commercial customers.

  • 1946 : Joseph-Rosario Vigneault founds the company J.R. Vigneault
  • 1952 : Arrival of the Mining Industry on the North Shore
  • 1990 : Expansion of the premises to support the growth and the industrial move
  • 1991 : Acquisition of the Port-Cartier branch
  • 1996 : Opening of the Labrador City branch
  • 1998 : Opening of the Havre-Saint-Pierre branch
  • 2000 : Merger of all branches under the name Distributions J.R.V. Inc.
  • 2007 : Acquisition of the Sorel-Tracy branch
  • 2009 : Daniel Larouche takes over the presidency. He is the 4th operating generation
  • 2011 : Constitution of the Head Office and its management team
  • 2015 : Major investment in technology
  • 2019 : Fusion of Sept-Iles and Port-Cartier branches’ operations into a major distribution centre in Sept-Iles.
  • 2019 : Technological migration to be at the cutting edge
